The national standard for forest carbon credits – Requirements (TCVN 14682:2026) was prepared by the Vietnam Forest Certification Office, and published by the Ministry of
Vietnam Forest Certification Center (VFCC) was reorganized from the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO). VFCC is a public non-business organization responsible for operating the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS). VFCC provides public services supporting state management, international cooperation, consultancy, and services in the fields of certification for sustainable forest management, chain of custody for timber and forest products, carbon credits, and other ecosystem services. VFCS was established under Decision No. 1288/QD-TTg dated 1 October 2018 by the Prime Minister of Viet Nam and was endorsed by the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) in October 2020.
Sustainable forest management and forest certification are key objectives of the forestry sector for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, contributing directly to Viet Nam’s goals of sustainable development, climate change mitigation and adaptation, particularly the target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. VFCS aims to promote sustainable forest management in Viet Nam, ensuring a balance among economic, social, and environmental benefits, while contributing to sustainable development and climate goals.
